Home Solar Panel Cleaning
Our core serviceSolar panel cleaning across O‘ahu
Pure water, a soft brush, and a video of your roof when we’re done. No chemicals, no scratches, no guesswork about whether it actually got cleaned.
Your panels are the only part of the system that has to stay clean to earn money. Everything else — inverter, wiring, mounts — is sealed and forgotten. The glass is exposed to salt off the ocean, vog off the Big Island, red dirt, pollen and birds, and it loses output quietly. Nobody notices the day it drops; they notice the bill three months later.
We’ve been cleaning panels on this island since the days of one beat-up truck. Same crew, same standards, and Angel still quotes every job himself.
Bird droppings are the worst offender
Dust spreads thin and lets some light through. A dropping is opaque, it bakes hard in the sun, and it sits on one cell — and because panels wire cells in series, one shaded cell can drag down the whole string. If you have trees or a nesting problem overhead, this is doing more damage than all the dust put together. It is also the reason so many of our cleaning calls turn into bird proofing jobs.
Dust, salt and vog
A light dusting really will rinse off in a good rain. Salt film will not, and neither will vog residue or the sticky pollen that comes off nearby trees — rain just moves them around and leaves a tidemark. If you are near the coast, expect to need us more often than someone up in Mililani. We will tell you honestly which side of that line you are on.
Any system, any roof
Rooftop, carport, ground mount, tile, asphalt shingle, metal, cedar shake. We clean every make and model of panel on the island and we have worked every roof type Hawai‘i builds. Nothing about your setup is going to be new to us.
Why it is worth doing properly
Going solar is not cheap, and the return depends entirely on how many years the array keeps producing near its rated output. Cleaning is the least expensive thing you can do to protect that. The wrong approach — abrasive pads, harsh detergent, a pressure washer — can micro-scratch the glass or force water past the seals, and that damage does not come back.
- Pure water and soft-brush equipment only
- No detergents, no residue left to bake on
- Video sent during and after the job
- Most residential jobs done in 1–2 hours
